Laura On: What’s On My Calendar This Month

040117_HEV-Blog--LBJ-Wall-Calendar_2_Bil

April has quickly snuck up on me. But a new month, means new chances to celebrate, and I have a calendar filled with opportunities this month.

I can’t think of a better way to kick off April than with my fourth annual mother-daughter journey on the Transatlantic Crossing. My mom, sister and I will be setting off from a South Florida port this weekend and arriving in Barcelona, Spain two weeks later. This trip is one I look forward to each year, filled with lots of laughter and great reads. (I’ll share what books I packed in a future blog post for all you readers out there.) Not to mention, we’ll be spending each and every day on the beautiful waters of the Atlantic…lucky us!

We return from our journey on the eve of Easter, so this year Easter lunch will be held at our house instead of making our way to the coast (our traditional gathering place for the holidays). Easter is one of my favorite holidays, and, although my girls are grown, I still love the tradition of Easter baskets (I’m gathering their baskets now so I am sure to have their treats ready to go Easter Sunday!). If you are looking for any Easter basket ideas, here are a few:

Traditional Candies- Our family favorites are:

  • Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Eggs
  • A Chocolate Bunny (wrapped in gold foil, of course)
  • Peeps, only the yellow will do. To be honest, no one ever eats these but they are a tradition and look great in an Easter basket.
  • Jelly Beans (Minus the black licorice flavor. No one seems to enjoy this flavor but me.)

Flip Flops- to kick off spring and celebrate beach weather.

Magazines or Books- We love to read in our family, so I often include a new book I’ve discovered or a subscription to one of our favorite magazines.

Once Easter is over, the rest of April and May are filled with celebrations for Mary Parker. She will be turning twenty-two this month and graduating from Auburn in May. I can hardly believe how quickly time has flown by.

Before we journey to Auburn, we have a big celebration happening at Coton Colors… the annual Coton Colors Customer Convention! For the first time in four years, we are bringing the Convention back to Tallahassee. Convention is an event I absolutely love. It’s a time where we invite our retailers to experience a true Coton Colors celebration while providing them an opportunity to learn from one another, listen to dynamic keynote speakers, and get a sneak peek at our new products before they are launched. I will be hosting the welcome kickoff party at my home this year (no pressure!), and since entertaining and celebrating are my favorite things to do, I’m really looking forward to it.

I hope you have a great month filled with many celebrations. I will be writing about my trip upon my return, so stay tuned.

Cheers!
